In marketing, every detail matters
Ideally, it should be like this: attention to all aspects, worked out nuances and no carelessness in communications
Today we will talk about price tags. It seems like a small thing, but really attractive and interestingly designed price tags are part of the Tone of Visual of your brand, carry a visual link and reflect the overall identity of the company
A bit of history. There were no price tags even 200 years ago. The seller voiced the price to the buyer and in the future the trading process was built on dialogue.
The man who invented price tags is considered to be Frank Woolworth – a simple country boy who worked as a sales assistant and later became a millionaire. But this was not a story about super business thinking, but about how a person fought his fears. The fact is that Frank was very shy by nature and communicating with customers was a great stress for him – he began to stutter and confuse words
Once the owner of the store went somewhere, leaving Frank alone. And he, in order not to feel stressed, came up with the following trick: he attached a piece of paper to each item with an indication of the price at which he was allowed to bargain, and he generally poured all the trifles on the table, providing a laconic sign: “Everything for 5 cents”
This is how the price tag was invented! Although at the time, Woolworth did not realize the historical importance of this moment. He disappeared behind the counter. Like, don’t touch me – it’s all written there
And so, there was a breakthrough – that day, sales in the store increased sevenfold! Frank’s stroke of genius became a revolution in trade. He accidentally came up with a formula that is still used by all stores in the world: the price of the product should be as accessible to the buyer as the product itself
For a long time, price tags were just a functional attribute
But in a world of developing competition and markets, the emergence of increasingly demanding buyers and creative competitors, brands have realized the power of design and aesthetics in attracting customer attention and driving sales. And today we see many stylish and interestingly designed price tags that add zest and individuality to the shopping environment, carry functional information (for example, about discounts) and simply turn from numbers into a piece of paper into a small work of art.
Online retailers also quickly realized the importance of visual appeal and started using well-designed digital price tags to make shopping more convenient and to evoke emotion in their customers.
Be sure to pay attention to the design of price tags
These seemingly small and often overlooked elements play an important role in improving the shopping experience of your customers. When a price tag is well thought out and professionally executed, it instills a sense of trust and confidence in the product and brand.
